About the event

Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a renowned, robust red wine from the Southern Rhône Valley in France. Known as "The Pope’s New Castle," it was the first official French wine region established in 1936. It is celebrated for its stony terrain, intricate grape combinations, and rich, spicy, and fruity tastes.

Core Wine Facts

  • The Style: Primarily rich, spicy, full-bodied red blends (around 95% of production). The remainder consists of dry white wines. Rosé is not permitted.

  • The Grapes: Up to 18 varieties may be utilized. Grenache is the predominant grape, often blended with Syrah and Mourvèdre.

  • The Terroir: Vineyards are blanketed with large, round, sun-warmed stones known as galets roulés, which retain heat during the day and warm the vines at night.
